Why not try your left thumb for the left alt key?

Nicole,
I just tried to do what you suggestbelow, even though, as someone who's
typed since I was in high school many years ago, I knew what would happen.
Generally, to press the left alt key, I remove my fingers from the home row,
reach down with my left index finger to find the space bar, then slide that
finger to the left over the break to find the Alt key and press it. There is
absolutely no way I can contort my left hand so that, from the home
position, I can find and press the left alt key with my left pinkie. In
fact, I couldn't even find and press the left *control* key, far to the left
of the alt key instead of underneath as the Alt key is. And then to press
the S key as usual, with the left ring finger? This is a contortion I'd be
amazed to see anyone accomplish. Maybe I haven't understood your directions
correctly? In any case, since I adjusted things in keyboard manager, I've
got a keystroke I can perform, and so all's well.

Hi
I have noticed that on the list it was often discussed to change
keystrokes in keyboard manager which are difficult to stretch one's
fingers to use them. I'm not trying to discourage people to use keyboard
manager, feel free to assign a feature to a key stroke which is most
conveniently for you. I just thought of letting everyone know that I
can easily press alt+insert+s, the keystroke for selecting a speech
scheme, its very easy. do the following:
Place your fingers on the home row as is taught in typing with your
index fingers on the f and j keys.
Now place your left pinkie on the left alt key.
Now you can use any right hand finger to hold down the insert key on
the number pad.Now tap the s with your left ring finger.
Its really easy; I don't find it difficult at all.
But don't feel discouraged to use keyboard manager, I just thought of
letting everybody know that I personally find it easy to press
alt+insert+s.
sincerely--
