Hmmm. I've never tried that. I've always hit Alt Spacebar and then
released those keys. The menu pops up and then I hit X to maximize.

Suggestion: with your right ring finger, press the right alt key. Hold
it,
and press your right index finger onto the space bar. Hold them both.
Now
press the X key with the usual typing third finger of your left hand.
Now
remove all fingers from the keyboard.

Do this all quickly, but in that sequence and not simultaneously.

that will maximize the window, if it needs to be maximized.

Subject: Re: note pad and jfw and how to use it,

In order to maximize the screen, you first press and hold down the Alt
and the SPACEBAR keys together and then tap the X key and then release
the Alt andSPACEBAR keys.

Do not press all three keys symultaneously, as Windows ignores the X
keystroke because no version of the Windows has considered the
pressing of three keys such as ALT+CTRL+LETTER, ALT+SHIFT+LETTER and
CTRL+SHIFT+LETTER all pressed at the same time as a valid three key
command.
