Hi Jean.

First, let me tell you that I absolutely love Dell. They were wonderful to us
when Fedex tried to screw around when it came to delivering our machine and
waived the shipping fees no questions asked. Also, our computer works
beautifully, way better then Gateway's did.

I wouldn't worry so much about the video card issue since FS seems to be a bit
out of date on what does and doesn't work. Also too, things they say work may
not and vice versa.

What you should deffinately do is place your order so that you have a 30 day
money back guarantee if it doesn't work the way you want. Dell allowed us to do
this.

Also too, the more ram you get, the better.

Dell has stopped providing floppy drives in their machines so if you want one
(and I'd get one until FS has the new authorization scheme sorted out) you'll
need to request it. If they balk, explain why you need it and they should
listen to that.

Hope this helps.

Okay. First I am not a techie, and a lot of the numbers on hardware and
memory don't mean much to me.

As I said, we're buying a new computer and I need a bit of advice in terms
of making sure what we pick is compatible and won't be a problem for Jaws.

I kind of know the power specs we need, so I won't bother the list with
asking for what to buy in that regard. But when we look at memory for
example, I know DDR is okay, but what is DDR2 and is it still okay with
Jaws?

So far we've been experimenting with Del configurations online. What about
video cards? Are there any to stay away from? The only brand I know is
Invidia, and it doesn't seem to pop up as a choice on the Del site. I know
years back picking the right video card was crucial, and I'm just asking to
avoid a problem for Jaws.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Jean
