When you say your router is connected to your Desktop, do you mean you have a
wire connecting them?

hi every body, can anyone tell me a simple way to network my 2 computers?
basically I want to copy stuff or programs from my drives from desktop onto
my lap top.
I have a desktop pc then I have a lap top, it has wireless netgear 500 and
both computers use the same internet server.
The router connects to my desktop pc.
I have wireless networked on my desktop with the wizard in the control panel
manually and the desktop was able to find my netgear 500 however now what do
I do next do I do the same with the lap top and where do I put the important
