Well, I may just wait a while to see how things play out with Windows 7 and 
Jaws 11, but that does mean putting up with this increasing dinosaur that I 
now have as a PC.

If you can wait a few months, Windows 7 might be the way to go.  It's
more stable than Vista.  You can't go directly from Windows XP to
Windows 7, though.  Either you have to go temporarily through Vista
and then install 7, or wipe out the whole shootin' match and install
windows 7 as new software and not an upgrade.
