For what it's worth, I guess it's good to know I'm not alone.

I fully agree with advancing with technology, but for someone like me, who 
needs to survive in a very demanding professional job, and who has many 
other computing needs outside the work arena, I simply find myself not 
having all sorts of time to tweak new technology in order to get it to work.

My approach, over all these years, has always been to give the new systems a 
chance, give FS or whomever time to catch up, and then make the switch.

I'm sure I get left behind in some things because of this approach, but 
sometimes, newer simply isn't always better, at least in the short run.

honestly, i agree with your preferences.
if i were buying a new system, i would stay with xp for a bit longer, once
windows 7 is being sold with new systems, i usually wait like 6 months
before trying to put it on any of my systems... i don't much care for vista,
and as far as office goes, i'm in agreement there too.
