you can happily delete things from the registry if you know what you are 
deleting.

As far as how to configure the pc, you don't have to use ms config.  you can 
usually stop something from loading via the program it loads from or in 
services under controll panel in administrative tools.

I didn't know there was an msconfig in windows xp. I thought you had to work
with the registery. I was told not to delete things from the registery. If I
made a mistake, we would have to reinstall the whole operating. I heard this
from two people.
