Hi Harmony, glad you figured out the check box for tool tips its a pritty neat feature for checking file size etc grin. To add to that if you don't already know I can't remember what you said at the top of my head, but it was something to do with the properties with a file. Well hear's a pritty cool feature just hit alt enter that's to say hold down the alt key and then hit enter and release them both then the propaties dialog comes up. You might have to use your jaws cursor or if you wanted to just hit alt b for reading the hole dialog box. But if I was you just stick to the file size in the tool tip its a lot more easy to do grin. Hope I help you in some way or another. By the way I like your name smiles

Thanks
Daniel

Cool. That works now but there's an annoying delay between jaws saying the
file name and the rest of the information.
Thank you,
Harmony.

Disk space and memory are two separate things. I'm not arguing that
jfw11 won't take more memory, it would surprise me if it didn't.

However things like the daisy player are only going to take memory
when actually running. SAPI voices should also only be loaded when
actually needed, I don't know how intelligently the solo direct voices
are handled though.

True. So if you don't install the realspeak or sapi 5 voices in the first
place, you're saving yyourself a bit of room. JAWS 11 is still bigger
anyway though, because it has a daisy player built into it and stuff and
it's also got the research it tool, which is massive.

I would also expect memory usage to vary wildly with the voice
profile. Eloquence should take far less memory than a sapi5 profile
that is set to use a bunch of different voices as cues.

Jaws will speak folder and file size information if you check "say tool

  Hellow,

JAWS 11 is by far the largest in terms of memory. It definitely takes
up
more room than say version 9 or 10 as they''ve added more features.

Also another question, can I get jaws to tell me the size of a file or
folder without going all the way into the properties? I've seen someone
do
it but can't work out how they did it. I've managed to get it to do the
file extensions as I arrow down the list though, which is an improvement.

hi everyone, as my subject line says I have a memory question with
Jaws.
I
was just cureious between jaws 9,10 and 11 I was wondering which one has
the
lowest memory size? As I say just cureious. I would be greatful if
someone
could tell me if maybe he or she has all three versions of the programme
on
there computer to be able to determan which one has the lowest in size. I
know its a strange question but also was thinking of downgrading to a
lower
version of Jaws to try things out. it doesn't matter cos I only use 40
minute mode with jaws so won't have to go through the hassel of
actavation
and such. other wise I wouldn't dream of touching a thing! smiles Many
thanks and hope to hear an answer soon.

  Daniel
