In doing some experimentation with JAWS 8 and Windows XP, I've discovered
that we can use the Dvorak keyboard layout with U.S. English, different from
the standard QWERTY keyboard we all learned on the conventional typewriter.
For those who are interested in speed, the Dvorak layout, which has tries to
make sure most common letter combinations are close together or on the same
row, is compatible with JAWS. But if anyone tries this, note that for the
sake of JFW-oriented commands, keys are not re-mapped. So for example, the
letter y in the Dvorak layout is positioned where the t normally would be in
QWERTY; but if you want a document title when you are working, you still
have to press a chord involving ALT and that same y key, not the new Alt+t.
