If what you're referring to here is an auth diskette for JAWS 4.0, mine is just as old. How old the diskette is isn't an issue. I've heavily and lightly used diskettes, some for over 10 years and some much less. I'm not going to get in arguments over NTFS format vs. FAT32 on this. If an operating system knows how to write to and read from a particular format, and the OS doesn't have some issues with writing to or reading other formats, then the format of the hard drive vs. the format of the diskette is irrelevant here. It becomes a case of diskette drive alignment, equipment condition (or how the diskettes and the computer are maintained), along with defects in materials and workmanship that can result in diskettes. I've had brand new boxes of diskettes that don't hold up as well on old or new computers whereas other diskettes were fine for many years. Isn't the best thing to do to quit arguing over how old diskettes are, or what format they're in, and just replace the diskette rather than FS giving the customer a hassle and arguing with them, or charging them so much for it? You'll never convince me it costs any $10 to mail a diskette. This is my last post on this topic, because some people are never convinced no matter what is said, and I think I've run up against one of those here. Who cares who's right and who's wrong on this, just quit arguing about it FS - fix the customer's problem, send them a new diskette at no charge and move on and quit being such a hassle about such a simple thing. -Greg Epley ----- Original Message ----- From: "david poehlman" <poehlman1@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2004 11:44 AM Subject: Re: jfw Digest V1 #122 > I just installed an authorization to an ntfs drive from a diskette that > worked when I didn't have an ntfs drive. this version was 4.0 > it's old, folks. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Greg Epley" <gregepley@xxxxxxxxxx> > To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2004 12:13 PM > Subject: Re: jfw Digest V1 #122 > > > Thanks to those who've commented on their lack of problems with auth > diskettes as related in the article posted here.
