Cy, What you say makes sense, needless to say, but my approach is different. I keep deleted messages for a week in my Outlook delete folder in case I regret any decision to erase a message. This practice has served me well over the years. Aside from enabling me to retrieve mistakenly deleted messages, it also makes initial deletion decisions easier because they aren't final. Each week or so, I go to the delete folder, press pagedown until I'm approximately at a week earlier, and then select all earlier messages with shift-control-end key, then press delete. _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cy Selfridge Sent: Monday, May 09, 2011 1:57 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: jfw 12.5, windows 7, win live mail Hi, I would strongly advise you to press the shift key+delete when deleting emails. This will cause the delete not to go to the recycle folder but just disappear. The delete key alone will place the deleted items into the recycle folder and you shoulld keep that folder empty to eliminate wasted space. Just press CTRL A whilst in your deleted items folder and press the delete key. You will then be prompted to confirm.
