Hi Gery,
You can try to install the latest NVDA:
http://www.nvda-project.org/download/releases/nvda_2009.1_installer.exe

which will give you good speech access to the machine, with which you can
sort out the JAWS problems.

I think Insert + 1 will put NVDA into keyboard help mode (similar to JAWS)
so you can quickly learn it's keys which are fairly similar to JAWS.
