I agree... uninstall 6.2 and reinstall it. But the point I was making was that in his original post he mentioned shutting down 6.1 first. That's not necessary. 6.2 will take over when it's ready.

He indicated that for some reason he was having an issue installing Jaws
6.2. I thought this might give him a cleaner install. It seems a strange
problem to me, so I'm just probing a bit.

In the first place you don't have to shut down Jaws 6.1 to install 6.2. They
are different programs in their own folders.

I think I would uninstall Jaws 6.2, unload Jaws 6.10, and reinstall Jaws
6.2
with Narrator running assuming you are using Windows XP.

I got the failed windows sound chord following your instructions. Then I reloaded jaws610 and read the screen and it reported that the file could not be found and instructed me to use the search program, which I did. Using jaws610, I found jaws620 in the documents and settings folder on my c: drive. From there i moved to the program files and found jaws620 listed there. Why it did not find jaws620 in the programs folder instead of the documents and settings folder is a mystery to me. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jamie Pauls" <jamiepauls@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 10:58 AM Subject: RE: jaws620?

Try unloading jaws 6.1, pressing Windows key+r and typing jaws62. Press
enter. See if Jaws 6.2 loads for you. Let us know what happens. Jaws will
say Jaws for Windows is ready but will not give you the version number.
Press alt+tab if necessary to focus on the Jaws window and use your "say
line" command to establish which version is running.

Subject: jaws620?

I am presently using jaws610, and I went to the freedom scientific web
page
and downloaded jaws620 and installed it on my computer, a windows xp
system.
My jaws 610 reads the installed programs in my program files and shows
clearly that jaws 620 is listed among the installed programs. The
problem
is I cannot get jaws620 to work at all. Any ideas as to what is
happening
here? In trying to install jaws620 I could not get it to install at all
without jaws610 running at the same time. After failing to install
jaws620
with my jaws610 program shutdown, as directed, I finally after four
install
failures, installed jaws 620 with jaws 610 running. Even after focusing
on
jaws 620 in the program files and shutting down jaws610, I cannot open
jaws
620 with a press of the enter key. I also don't seem to be able to make
a
shortcut to jaws620 on my desktop that reads as jaws620, but I can get a
shortcut on my desktop that reads simply "jaws". Suggestions are eagerly
accepted, since I seem to be getting no where withmaking jaws620 to work
for
me.
