try opening your my documents folder
alt v, for view
press l for list view
then alt t for tools
up arrow to options enter
make sure it is set to classic view
then control tab to view
spacebvar the button

You can apply the view (such as Details or Tiles) that

you are using for this folder to all folders.

Apply to All Folders Reset All Folders

then tab to apply the change then tab to ok
then see if the control panel is fixed

I'm sorry. I never saw such a View menu in Control Panel. It's always had
a list of options for how things are to be displayed, including Tiles, and
icons, and list, and details, thumbnails, arrange items this way and that,
etc., and all that stuff. I have no idea why you don't have a view menu
like that.

Anyone else know why this person has an abbreviated View menu in Control
Panel?
