Periodically, I have gone into MsConfig to edit my selective startup items. The other day, I did this and saw a checked item I was unfamiliar with. In searching for it on the Internet, I stumbled across an excellent source of info on various startup items. The address is: http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm It alphabetically lists every conceivable item that can appear in the startup folder with its associated program, along with comments about what it does and whether it is necessary to run it every time you boot up. It even references some items which are placed in your startup menu by nefarious viruses, which obviously need to be deleted. As those of you who are tech savvy know, there are many programs that get set up to run automatically that hog system resources. So, if you have an item in your startup settings and you wonder whether or not it can be dispensed with, this is an excellent resource to try.
