By any chance do you have jaws for Windows starting automatically? The reason I ask is if you have jaws for Windows to start automatically jaws for Windows will default to the last installed soundcard. If you would like for jaws for windows to default to a particular sound card no matter what sound card windows is set to there is an article in the knowledge base on the FS website explaining exactly how to do it. I hope this helps. I had this problem two years ago, so the exact steps elude me, I use my USB headset exclusively on this computer.
