Hi Cheryll,
The problem was MS Word opening new documents in print view by default.  The 
solution is to open the normal.dot file, change to normal view, then save the 
normal.dot file.

      Thanks.  No it wasn't just you; I had the same problem.  This problem's 
been around  for years.  Fortunately I found the solution on Google and it 
looks like it's a keeper.  I'm glad that the solution was so simple and that it 
worked for us.
