Several additions I would like to point out to this reply:

1) You may need to enable "Speak All" in the resulting FTP window so JAWS
will tell you everything that is going on. It would also be a good idea to
maximize the FTP window.

2) You do not need to type in the destination, FTP will launch and you can
use the "open" command to open the ftp port to the desired machine. By the
way, the destination can be a alpha-numeric name (i.e.,
freedomscientific.com) or an IP address (255.255.255.155).

3) You should be able to type in the word "help" once in the FTP window and
a list of supported commands will be displayed. For help with a specific
command you should be able to enter in the specific command with a question
mark directly after it -- "open?"

4) Get help on mget (mget?) as this should allow you to do a Multiple Get!
