Yes you can do it that way in XP also. But I'd rather have the updates
automatically download and then be notified that they are ready. At that
point I chose which ones are installed and which ones are not.

I never have my system do any automatic updates as I like to be in control of what is being put onto my computer. IN case you do not know this, automatic updates can be disabled in control panel - at least they can be for windows 2k and I think this is the same in xp. When I have a fresh install of windows, this is one of the first things I do - disable autonatic updates. I rather go to the windows update page where I can select and deselect what updates are suggested for my computer.
Cheers,
Doris

Also, there is nothing that I see that would force a current jaws 5.x user to upgrade internet Explorer if it really wasn't supported by jaws.
Let's just wait until IE 7.0 is out in public beta and reports from the courageous daring to install beta software come in. <g>
cheers,
Doris

In fact, there isn't much FS can do about it. I mean, why would they do a major re-write on a version that is to generations out of date?

People on the list
I was given this information,
I don't know how accreted this is, but I will find out tomorrow, when I call freedomscientific .
I was told that those of us who have Jaws 5.0
when the next version of Jaws 7.0 comes out, that freedomscientific will not support with Jaws 5.0 the next version of inter net explorer.
I hope this is not true, they want every body to upgrade to 7.0
If they do this, I hope the blind people get a class action law suit.
Thanks from Joseph.
