Gene,
I didn't say that Jaws doesn't speak that announcement.  sure, it says that 
to me.  , too-- Jaws is reading that message.  But then, if you actually 
traverse the list with your arrow key, I think you'll find that Jaws speaks 
only the items, without announcing that they're accompanied by check boxes 
and what the state of each checkbox is.  Is it different for you?

But when mine comes up it says "Uncheck the items you don't want
installed.". So that is quite clear to me.
