Gene,
When you see updates listed on your task tray list like this, they aren't
yet downloaded. Their names are just presented to you for selection. Only
when you press the Download control are they then actually downloaded, and
then installed.

Yes you can do it that way in XP also. But I'd rather have the updates
automatically download and then be notified that they are ready. At that
point I chose which ones are installed and which ones are not.
