Guess I'm very lucky--Only thing cracking up around here is me!
As far as my card is concerned--well, it seems to be playing with a full 
deck...it's a sound blaster live.
I have updated the drivers for the card about six months ago but even prior to 
that, I had only rarely and very infrequently experienced any crackling and 
only 
briefly at that.

Hi Shannon,

Sounds like they just installed all of the standard drivers.  I know that
when I did that, Jaws would make this offal stadicky sound at the end of
everything it said.
When I used the update drivers, the stadick sound went away.  And I didn't
lose any of the functionality of the sound card.  Jack
