IT WORKS IN 10, OKAY? FOR PETE'S SAKE, IT WORKS IN TEN. YOU HAPPY?

George,

I know that pane. I have just been there. I'm not interested in what's new
in jaws 9, which I used before upgrading to Jaws 10. It's very possible, as
with some other Jaws features, that this is no longer current in jaws even
though it's obviously something useful. For instance, the Reply Directly to
Sender (please do not confuse this with a simple reply as in outlook
Express; people keep doing that when this feature is discussed here) was
introduced in, let's see, I think it was jaws version 8, but although
everyone on this list couldn't seem to agree that this was so, the truth is
that this helpful feature really stopped working in Jaws 9, and FS fixed it
in Jaws 10 and announced the bug fix in such a way as to pretend that
nothing had actually been the matter. Very spooky public relations wording.
But the important thing is that the feature works again.

Anyway, as I say, I want to hear from someone who knows about this in Jaws
10, please. Or not, if no one knows. Again, thanks for your input.

Yes it is if you go to jaws 10 help, whats new, and what's new is in focous
and hit enter, then f6 and then it focous goes to the right pain and arrow
down and you hear whats new in link what's new jaws ten, and then arrow down
and you hear changes made to earlier versions of jaws and arrow down and you
hear link what's new in jaws 9. Hit enter on that and you will find it
there.

You know I am trying to help but if you have to criticize then you should
try reading fearther down the help menu for the what's new and you will see
it is in the jaws 10 what's new help. As a matter of fact every jaws what's
new since I thing jaws 4 is a link on the help screen. Bon't hold it to me
for god sakes I might of made a little mistake along the way. we know you do
not do that now don't we.

George B.,
I understand what this says. But this text isn't where you describe it
in
the Jaws 10 help menu under what's new in jaws 10. thanks very much for
your
generous assistance. But if someone who is running jaws 10 and is
familiar
with where this topic is shown in the Jaws 10 help will tell me where
to
look, I'll appreciate that very much. Even though I appreciate your
copying
the below information from somewhere, this doesn't come from the help
menus
and topics in my version of jaws, and it's important to me to know how
to
find something like this. Thanks again.

I am sorry it is in whats new in jaws 9 which also works in jaws 10.
Below
is the text from the help whats new jaws 9

Performing an Action Stated in a Balloon ToolTip
A system tray balloon ToolTip is a way for applications to inform you
that
an event has occurred or an action is required. Often these ToolTips
state
that you need to "click here" to perform a certain task, such as
downloading
updates for Windows. With JAWS 9.0, when such a message appears, you
can now
press the JAWS left mouse button (NUM PAD SLASH) to immediately act on
the
message before the ToolTip closes.

In JAWS 8.0 and earlier, to select a balloon ToolTip, you had to enable
the
JAWS cursor and navigate to the ToolTip. Often the message would close
before you could find it. As you can see, it is much more efficient to
use
the JAWS left mouse button.

Note: The INSERT+TAB keystroke speaks the current control, its ToolTip,
and
tutor message. If you wait to act on a balloon ToolTip message, you can
press INSERT+TAB to hear if it is still open and available. If it is,
press
NUM PAD SLASH to select the ToolTip. If you do not hear the ToolTip,
then
the message has closed. At this point, you can press INSERT+F11 to see
if
the application that caused the balloon ToolTip to appear is available
in
the system tray.

I looked in the help menu under what's new in Jaws in my Jaws 10, and
I

please
explain more specifically where you find those instructions? Thanks.

Yes thank you. I do recall something to that affect with a prior
version of
Jaws. I tried the insert tab suggestion also offered up by a
previous
poster, but it doesn't seem as though it worked. Oh well... Thanks
anyway...

At some point during the lifecycle of I believe JAWS 8 or 9, you
were
able
to have the message repeated to you by using the insert+tab or jaws
key
plus
tab combination after it popped up. The problem is, it doesn't stay
up
for
long, so JAWS doesn't have time to read it a second time. That's a
minor
flaw with Windows itself, and not something FS can correct in a
future
update of JAWS.

I'm aware of the left click ability. It is useful, but I for
example,
wouldn't wat to just left click on something if I didn't hear what
it
was
exactly that Jaws said to begin with. That's more my inquiry than
anything
else. The bility to have Jaws repeat the message if I for whatever
reason
didn't hear it the first time.

But within how many seconds do you have to left click? And do you
mean
that
you definitely can't hit Enter because that will only activate
whatever
control Jaws says is the focus at that moment in a dialogue, and
you
won't
be in what jaws perceived as a dialogue? What if you didn't hear or
understand everything the bubble said? Is it still no worry to just
click on

it and have faith?

Simple. JAWS left click anywhere and the bubble will be clicked.

I have the same trouble when JAWS reads prompts for updates or
other
types
of information. My problem is also that even if I understood the
information, I often can't find the place to click. For example,
if
a
prompt comes up while I'm reading my eamail that says there is an
update
avail for my antivirus program. I can't then find where to click
to
tell it
to update. I'm running JAWS 9.

Hello list,

Is there a jaws command to repeat the information bubbles that
windows
from
time to time announces? I ask because, sometimes, jaws will
randomly
speak
these bubbles and either the message gets cut off by a key
stroke
or
jaws
beginning to read some other information. I looked in the jaws
help
files
and really didn't come across anything. I know you can disable
these
bubbles, but I'd prefer not to. I just want to be able to have
jaws
repeat
them should I have the need to hear them again.

Thanks...
