Friends: I got in on this thread late, but I was in a similar thread in Blindtech. Several of us, including me, found out the problem does not occur with jaws 5.

Hi Richard,

I have experienced the same problem on a Windows 98 system at work and a Windows XP Home system here at home, both running JAWS 6.0. It does seem to be caused by some kind of interaction with JAWS. The problem doesn't happen with Window-Eyes.

I can also make the crash happen by going directly to www.nytimes.com and selecting an article to read. As soon as I access the Printer Friendly link for an article, Internet Explorer puts up its problem dialog that says it needs to close.

This problem started happening at the first of the week after I downloaded a Critical Update security patch to Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Both systems got this patch, but I can't be sure if it has anything to do with the problem. The New York Times may have added some sort of Active-X control that doesn't get along with the combination of JAWS and Internet Explorer. Who knows?

The best bet for getting the problem resolved is to notify Freedom Scientific. They have had to make modifications in JFW in the past to keep it from crashing Internet Explorer on certain Web pages. When you contact them by phone or Email, be sure to tell them the Windows version and JAWS version you are using and how to reproduce the problem. Version 7.0 of JFW will be out soon, and we don't want the crashes to still be happening in that version.

Hi List, hope someone can help with this:
In outlook express I receive headline alerts from the NY Times. I open the e-mail and pick the headling link I wish to download. This has worked fine for years, but recently changed. Now, when I tried to go to the link, the outlook express locks up. I get an Internet is forced to close message. If I try the same procedure with Jfw turned off, there is no problem.
I am running jfw 6.2 and windows xp home. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance.
