Hello:
Anna's directions are on the money.
There are two shortcuts, however, that may make your process go faster.
1. After your text is selected, with any one of a number of methods,
press and release the ALT key. Then press control plus tab until you
hearr "styles and formatting" (This is in XP, but I think Word 2000 is
enunciated the same way). Then, instead of moving to the right with
right arrow, go left, with left arrow. On XP, it is only 3 presses of
the left arrow key. Your tool bar may be a little different, but I
guarantee going left will get you where you want to go much faster.
2. Instead of using down arrow through the color list, use right
arrow. If you have list counting turned on, you get a nice, neat,
sequential count, e.g., "one of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.
I hope this helps.

With the text highlighted (as in shift-down arrow) go to the
formatting and styles menubar With alt, then control-tab. Arrow right
to
highlight, and arrow down to select the color.
