Mike,
You didn't say whether you have arouter, or whether the modem has one built
in.
At any rate, if your machines are networked, you can just transfer the files
over the network.
Otherwise, you can use the following:
www.yousendit.com
you could upload your files to their server, and then download them to your
other machine.

Subject: help transferring files

I have a folder that is 7.28 gb(Most of my anime), and I want to transfer it
to anouther computer(my laptop to desktop), We have one of the quest
modems(high speed).
I want to know of a free site that will allow me to transfer it all, or if I
cal plug the usb into my laptop and other connection in to the modem, and
the eathernet cable into the modem and the desktop and would I be able to
transfer that way? It is a wireless modem as well; though I dont have any
wireless cards.
I know this is not programming, but I thought someone would be able to help
me.
