getting OE to read if you have an unread message.

this isn't a uge concern because I mainly use outlook and spend half my time reading and deleting messages which I don't want to read, but Outlook Express does not read when I have an unread message. has this happened to anyone else? I would think it would be reallly annoying if OE is your primary program.
