Thanks Gary. Although the dialog in Version 8 is slightly different, I will experiment with the verbosity settings the next time I run into the problem.

Tom,

If you are able to get the titles of the fields by arrowing through the form, you could open the Verbosity Menu and turn on Forms Mode Uses Virtual Labels. This will allow you to hear the same titles for the fields when tabbing through the form that you hear in Virtual Cursor Mode. You can make this setting permanent for a particular site by using the Personalized Verbosity Settings Menu with Shift+Insert+v.

I am using JFW 6.2 on this system, so I hope that none of these settings have changed in later JFW versions.

Subject: forms mode

I have a problem that annoys me at times when filling out an order form on the Web. Sometimes when tabbing down through a form the title of the field is not given, Jaws will just say edit. Sometimes I can turn off forms mode and arrow the cursor over the field and the title of the field will be read, at other times I just have to guess what they want in the field. If anyone has had this problem and has a way to identify such fields I would sure be grateful to hear it.
