Judith,
Be very, very, very cautious when using *any* auto formatting features in word 
-- you could get some funky results.

Your best bet is to go into tools then paragraph formatting to adjust your line 
spacing, tabs and idents.

Then when the format is the way you like, tab to "set as default" and enter on 
that. Then ok out.
