if you didn't stop the device before removing it, you will definitely shorten 
the life for that device.

Thank you very much for telling me how to do that. What would happen if you 
did not remove the flash drive correctly? I have been only using this flash 
drive for 1 week because it is brand new; however, I have not been safely 
removing the flash drive from my computer because of course I did not know 
you were supposed to remove it safely.
