Sorry, I'm still not sure what you want to do.
But, if I had twenty or so folders starting with jaws, I'd create one folder
named jaws with twenty or so folders under it with different names.

If I have scores of folders starting with the same first word or letter
combination, pressing the first letter or two doesn't make the process any
quicker. I was talking about using space, hyphen or underscore following the
first word of a multi-word foldername. Right now, renaming folders when in a
list of same-first-word folders is my best solution. Otherwise I could insert
dashes or something instead of space while creating a new folder or renaming an
old one. Hopefully those symbols will work when transferring a new message to,
or selecting from a list, a particular folder.

I'm not sure I understand this latest point. When I use the shift-control-v
command, for example, I press only the first, or sometime the first and second,
letters of the name of the folder I wish to move the message to. No need to
type the whole thing.

I tried the underscore, hyphen, and a few other characters, while in the
"move-to-folder" procedure, but none of those characters worked. The space is
accepted when creating a new folder or renaming an old one, but not when moving
a message to that existing folder or selecting it from the folders list. I
agree the messages already in a folder stay there after I rename the folder.
My issue only concerns moving a new message from my Inbox to an existing
appropriate folder, or find the desired folder in the list.

old folder name disappears, and the messages stay in place under the new folder
name.
Second, although you and Dave Carlson have found that a space isn't
accepted in a folder name, for me it is. I'm using Outlook 2003. But if your
system won't accept spaces, Dave's underscore idea accomplishes much the same
purpose. Personally, I'd use a character that doesn't require the shift key,
such as a hyphen.

The space is used for separating words in the folder title containing two
or more words. I use the same keystroke, shift+control+v when outside a
message to move the highlighted message to a different folder. Pressing
spacebar in this action only causes a ding, and the display stays where it was
after pressing the last character before the space. The same thing happens
when moving via the file menu from inside a message. I guess renaming a
folder, then moving messages to the renamed folder, would be the only time
saver as opposed to pressing the first letter or down arrow key a random number
of times to move the selected message to another appropriate folder. Thanks

Could you clarify why you refer to the spacebar? Which method do you
use for moving messages from folder to folder? I use shift-control-v when
outside the message and a file menu method when inside a message. In either
case, a space wouldn't even come up as part of the operation.
Meanwhile, have you considered renaming the folders? I believe placing
F2 at the folder name in the folders list would make this a simple task. When
you press F2, an edit field appears. Type in the new name, press enter, and it
should be done. To suggest an example, I have a folder I've named "JAWS
Future." If I had as many JAWS folders as you, I'd probably switch the words to
make it "Future JAWS."

Good morning. I've been using OE for a few years, and I was wondering
if you could address an issue I have when I have a bunch of folders starting
with the same word in their names--i.e., I have almost 20 folders beginning
with the word Jaws. When moving a message from my Inbox to a different folder,
spacebar doesn't work; I can only use first letter or first word navigation.
My only luck is pressing the first letter or down arrow numerous times till I
land on the folder I want. Is there a quicker way to find the desired folder
to transfer the message to, when spacebar is disabled and there's no character
to substitute for space? Is this a Jaws or OE issue? Thanks for your
suggestions.
