Does anyone know why you can only use it in the Uk? Is there a Us equivalent of
this site? Thanks. Glenna

  Hi Francis,

I've written the notes below about accessing virgin digital assuming that you
have registered. From memory registration was straight-forward.

  1. If you get on to virgin digital (VD) home page, don't use the search box
tthere. Everytime I have it's gone wrong. I start by clicking on the register
button. this takes you on to the registration page where you can log-in.

  2. This takes you on to a page with your name on it. Not far from the top
you'll find another search box, with the added advantage that when you've
clicked on it, got forms mode and put your artist, track or album in, there's a
list below which lets you choose which category to search. A tip- keep the name
short. I have found if you go over about 20 characters it cuts you off.

  3. when you click search it takes you on to a page which is straight forward
I think except for no "skip to main contents" link which means you have to
scroll down. I normally go one page down. There you will find your search
results straight-forwardly laid out with appropriate links. A tip- if you want
one track don't click the "tracks" option if it says there are more than 30. It
seems to only list 30 at a time, and I can't find any link with jaws to take
you on to the next page. I normally therefore search for the track name in the
original search, or go through the albums.

  4. If you click on a album or track, it will again lay them out in a
straight-forward if lengthy way. If you want to buy one of them, click on the
buy link. What happens then is a bit weird. You don't get the noise you
normally get when you click on a link- you get about 3 seconds silence and then
jaws come back as if it's been dropped back on to the page.

  5. At that point go down to the very bottom of that page. You'll find
separate links either to "shopping basket" or to "check out". If your amount is
under £1 it won't show in the total box

  6. If you click on shopping basket, it takes you to the page to buy. It will
give you details of the track you have selected. Now again it's weird. Instead
of a "buy now" button, which is apparently what it says in print, you'll find a
link "sysreq" which stands for "system requirement". If you are buying for the
first time, then pressing that takes you on to a page which asks you to
download a piece of plug-in .

This is the one thing I couldn't do myself. I had to get somone sighted to do
it, but a more experienced pc or jasw user may work out how to do it themselves.

  6. If you are a first-timer and get passed the plug-in, it takes you on to a
page to put in your credit card details which seems straight-forward, though I
was lazy and got a sighted person to do it. It looked ok by jaws.

  7. If you are not a first timer, and you haven't logged-in to get to this
page, which you can do, it will ask you to log-in. If not the page repeats your
credit card details. Annoyingly you have to click the accept the terms button
every time although you will have checked the "remember this" box. Then you
press buy.

  8. Then the fiddily bit. You then get on to a page which is a security
blocker. To get through this do alt d then tab then press space bar.

  9. This then takes you on to a page to do a standard download.

I hope this makes sense. I'm having to do it from memory as having to go back
and forward to the site would be a pain in the neck. Do perceveere even if my
instructions irritate the heck out of you. Like I said a more experienced pc /
jaws user may make easy weather of it and be able to post better and quicker
instructions. Good luck, and I'll try and help with any questions if I can.
Compared to all the other download sites I've found VD is useable if lengthy
and boring! Cheers. Alun

    yes please Subject: downloading music

          Hi all,

For those in the uk I have found what a webvb site for music downloading
which is completely accessible to Jaws. Its at virgindigital.co.uk. You have to
register to use it, and pay for tracks and albums. But in my searching it's the
only fully accessible site I've found. It's not completely easy, but works.
Anyone who tries it and struggles I'm happy to take you through how I've done
it. Cheers. Alun
