The problem then lies in a corruption of the data flow in outlook express.
I don't know if you can get your messages back, but to prevent it in the
future, you need to go to the maintainance tab in options and compact and
delete and reset and such on a regular basis. You don't loose any messages
when this happens, but it can save you from loosing messages. I've had 400
messages in my inbox now for quite some time without a loss.

I'm off to compact.

Oh, also, a thorough scandisk and defrag helps on a regular basis too. I
have also found that if you are running norton system works or the
equivilant suite that is supposed to take care of your hard drive, you can
loose stuff like this.

The only way I know that you might not be seeing messages if they have not
been moved or deleted is if under view, current view, you have hide read
messages checked if they've all bee nread, they will appear to be gone.
