In my case, I work as a medical transcriptionist and am currently looking
for employment. Some of the companies when they send corrected mistakes
back that were made in the report put the corrections in a different color
than the rest of the text to make it stand out.

And as far as color changes on the internet that's not as vital but there
are times when it will talk about something in a different colored text and
it would be nice to be able to know what is in that different color.

Understood. I was only characterizing my own, plain vanilla use of Word for
writing and reading unembellished text documents, not cosmetically enhanced
for any purpose.

The facility for JAWS to announce text colour formats as it reads is very
useful. Some text documents contain words/sentences formatted in a
different font colour to reinforce salient points to the sighted reader
which are contained within the document.

I think what David is referring to is a way of setting Jaws to announce
colors as it reads. I think there's a way to set that up (though I'd hate
to have such a thing running constantly, as I use Word all day). However,
in Word, I never heard of colors of text and background continually
changing, by the way. A few special Word editing or correction functions
use color to set themselves off, but actually I don't use such functions
anyway. but you sound as if you do expect some color-coded things to be in
your Word documents? Again, an ordinary Word document doesn't just keep
changing colors, word by word or line by line.cocuy

But if you just want to know the colors at specific points of a document or
Web page, the command to hear this spoken is Insert F.

If memory serves me correctly there should be a scheme in the speech and
sounds manager that will do that very thing. I think it's the proof reading
scheme.

Hi All,
How can I determine what color certain text is written in, and is there a
way to be notified if another color is encountered while reading? I'm
talking specifically about documents that I open in MSWord, but at times I
also need to know the color of the text on web pages as well.

Thanks.
Troy
