that's my fault, i didn't even specify the version, it was using version 10,
and we found the sollution to be in the global voice adjustment 1 shift tab
before the ok button...

You can do this in versions of JAWS as far back as 8, or even 7.

Settings
Say All (letter "Y")
You'll find the answer in that dialog.
