My friend uses Makafee. I have not used an antivirus program on my computer
constantly for the past ten years, and I have never had a virus except one
time in 1994, when my step son used a pirated program on a floppy disk that
he got from his university. That experience cost me over $80 to get rid of
the virus. I have learned to avoid certain programs and files ever since,
and I do not have a virus. I know people with an antivirus program
installed and running on their computer, and yet they got a virus. So even
having an antivirus program on your computer can still make one a dangerous
dude. If I get a message or an attachment that I did not request, I just
send it to a third party and let them scan it for a virus, and when I get
notification that it does not have a virus in it, then I open it for myself.
Yes, I know I am cheap, but I also know I do not have a virus. I know about
the free antivirus program, but I do not want it either.
