Great to know you're protecting us from viruses that can't get through anyway to the list. I feel so much better.

My friend uses Makafee. I have not used an antivirus program on my computer constantly for the past ten years, and I have never had a virus except one time in 1994, when my step son used a pirated program on a floppy disk that he got from his university. That experience cost me over $80 to get rid of the virus. I have learned to avoid certain programs and files ever since, and I do not have a virus. I know people with an antivirus program installed and running on their computer, and yet they got a virus. So even having an antivirus program on your computer can still make one a dangerous dude. If I get a message or an attachment that I did not request, I just send it to a third party and let them scan it for a virus, and when I get notification that it does not have a virus in it, then I open it for myself. Yes, I know I am cheap, but I also know I do not have a virus. I know about the free antivirus program, but I do not want it either. ----- Original Message ----- From: "curmudgeon" <one2three4five6@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 1:27 AM Subject: Re: curiouser and curiouser

u are one dangerous dude
if you can't afford a antivirus program AVG has a free version
and, pc cilin,
www.antivirus.com
can scan your computer free, from the internet

if you want help using it i can help

i would be interested in knowing what program your friend is using
are you using any anti spyware programs??
there are several that are jaws friendly

running around in the snow, completely naked is fun, i have done it but, sooner or later you are bound to catch something nasty and waiting 4 or 5 months to clean or check your computer for dem bugs you may not have a computer to clean or check some of the nasty trojans and viruses, can literally destroy a computer and all you have to do, is open a web site by mistake anyway

good luck

I have a friend use his antivirus software every four or five months on my computer to check it out. So far he has never detected a virus. I guess I am just lucky besides being very careful as to what I look at. ----- Original Message ----- From: "curmudgeon" <one2three4five6@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 7:29 AM Subject: Re: curiouser and curiouser

I do not use an antivirus program. Oh, and yes, I do not have a virus in my computer. If I get any unwanted messages or attachments, and even most of my wanted email attachments, I send them to a third party to scan for a virus first to get clearance that they do not contain a virus before I ever open them. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna Corson" <donnalettie@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2005 7:32 PM Subject: Re: curiouser and curiouser

Actually, that happened to me some time back, but it cleared up and I
don't
know how or why. I thought Norton was stealing messages, but that was
just
a guess.

No. The box is checked to save copy sent messaages to the sent items folder, and none appear there, including this one. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rosemarie Chavarria" <knitqueen2005@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2005 5:30 PM Subject: Re: curiouser and curiouser

Hi, Harry. Did the problem clear itself up? Just wondering.

Rebecca,
it gets even more curiouser and curiouser. I checked my setting in
the
options and the save a copy in the sent items box was checked. So I
unchecked and sent a test message, and no message copy showed up in
the
sent items folder. So I went to the options again and checked the box
that said save a copy of the message in the sent items folder. I sent
another test message and nothing showed up in the sent items folder.
I
turned the computer off and on a couple of times and still no copy of
the
sent message was saved in the sent items folder.
It simply just does not work any more.
I hope it fixes itself. In the meantime I guess I can be sure I sent
a
message by sending a copy of the message to myself by putting my email
address in the bcc field.
Thanks for the heads up, even though it did not work for me.

This would be something that only applies to your Outlook settings.
Check your options in OE and make sure that you have checked the box
that says "save sent messages". I'd bet it somehow got unchecked.

For the past two days no messages show up in my sent items folder in Outlook Express. Yet I know some of these messages are being sent, since I have had a response to a couple of them. Has this happened to any body else here? Some times I wonder if I have sent a message to some one or made an inquiry via email, and I can always check it out in my sent items folder to see if a message has already been sent, and once a month I delete all of the messages in my sent items folder except for the last couple of weeks or so. Is there a way for my sent messages to start showing up in my sent items folder again? If so, let me know.
