Julie,

I think there is some confusion here, or maybe it's on my part....

As I recall, you have Office 2002, but you are referencing OE.  Don't you mean
Outlook, OE is a reference for Outlook Express, which is part of the Internet
Explorer, but not part of MS Office 2002.

In Outlook, from a new message, press alt-i for Insert, press f for files.
Fill out the info or browse for the file you want to attach.  Be sure to have
the radio button for Attach selected, rather than Text or Shortcut.  This will
preserve the document with the .xls extension used by Excel.
