can't read anything in automatic update

Hi list, I have had some computer problems today and noticed that when I
went into automatic update in control panel, jaws said nothing. I can't set
the time to download updates, i have no choices to do anything. Is there
some setting in folder options or anywhere to resolve this problem? I know
automatic update is enabled, but that's all i know. Running XP pro and jaws
