Hi Chevelle,
If I'm not mistaken, there is only 1 preview payne.
Your just accessing the settings for it in 2 different places.
In the tools, options, onthe read tab,is just a place to tell Outlook
Express weather to download messages while viewing in the preview payne.
In the layout, is where you choose where in the application window
you want the preview payne to be displayed.
Ideally, you want to preview your messages before downloading, this would
allow you to keep from downloading messages you are not sure of.
This is my understanding of how it works, if I'm wrong, I hope someone else
on the list will correct me.
HTH,
Richard Justice

Subject: can someone explain the two preview panes

> Hi, what is the difference between teh two preview panes. There is one in
the options under the read tab, and there is another one under layout. Why
should these two be unchecked. What does the preview pane do. How come one
or both are a security risk?
