Re: avg and jaws saying attachments

I missed some of this thread. I hope someone will clarify. Has it been
claimed that the AVG notice causes Outlook Express or other mail programs to
display an attachment symbol on incoming email, which Jaws then reports,
making the recipient think they have received a file attachment, or at least
that they have to check to make sure whether they have or not?

Because if so, I just want to describe my own experience with this. While
I, like a lot of us, often am told by Jaws (which is not malfunctioning,
only noting the paper clip symbol, as it should) that there are attachments
where there actually aren't any, this doesn't happen to me because of the
AVG notice. note that if you type the product name all upper case, as is
proper, it reads as it should instead of the incoherent mumble that the
lower case version produces. Just to confirm that things were still working
this way for me, I sent myself a test email a moment ago, and it arrived
with the usual AVG notice, but didn't announce itself as bearing a file
attachment.

Just for comparison, if that was the original complaint. If it's only that
some people are annoyed to have the AVG message display, as they might feel
annoyed by someone's email signature lines, then that's another matter,
about which I don't have any strong feelings. I just want to make clear
that the AVG message isn't causing the file attachment symbol to appear on
email I send out scanned by AVG Free Edition.

Just for the record, I made the changes and do not get a message about AVG
not being fully functional. I am using JAWS 7.1 and XP.
