Oh, that's right. Ken Gould. Dean must've written something else. Sorry.

Jerry, what's a TSM?

It was Ken Gould who wrote the scripts. Freedom Scientific made this TSN
on it
http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=1035

The scripts are packaged in Jaws 7.1, so you don't need the scripts with
that version.

Ralph,

What you've heard is basically correct. The download software is called
Audible manager, and although each new update of it has presented
accessibility problems with Jaws, scripts exist to make it usable.
Someone
named Dean Schmidt wrote good scripts for the current version of Audible
Manager and provided the download link and instructions. Although I
have
the scripts myself, I can't remember exactly which they are or where to
download them anymore. I think Dean has a Web site. Anyone know?

Second, you can play the program files either on your computer using
Audible
Manager (or Windows Media Player, I think), and there are a number of
regular .mp3 players that are Audible compatible, but you have to check
the
ones that are listed on the Audible site. That's not hard to find, that
information. But there's also the question of which of those players
are
acceptably useable without being able to see their controls and screens.
You can probably get recommendations from people on this list who are
Audible customer. I happen to use two different players, the Sandisk
Sansa
M230 (a number of Sandisk Sansa models will work just as well) and the
Creative MuVo Nomad. Again, you can find the entire list of compatible
players on the Audible site (you could even look for that list now).
Also,
there's a blind audible customers mailing list on Yahoo Groups that
would be
perfect to help you get going. You'll get all the support you could ask
for, there. You could subscribe to it now and ask some questions, and
see
how that feels. Let me see if I can find the subscription address:

Here's the email subscribe address:
BlindAudibleListeners-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And here's the URL at Yahoo Groups, where you can look at other stuff
and
also subscribe there, instead, if you prefer:to

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BlindAudibleListeners

hope this helps. If you ask on that list about Audible Manager and the
scripts, you'll get what you need immediately.

Hi,

I am looking into audible.com. It is my understanding that they have
software you use to download books. After download you can use normal
MP3
software to listen to the books.

Is the download software compatible with Jaws?

Thanks,
Ralph
