Then you'll just be paying more for the product.

Hi Barry,
No, what I'm stating is simply this!
I am not paying advance for a product that doesn't exist.
I don't have near the problems with the product that others do,
so when they are ready to ship me a cd, then that's when I will part with my
hard-earned money.

I don't understand what you all are going to wait for with regards to installing the final version of 7.1. This is the final version. The next release will be version 8 which is slated to be published in December. Speaking as a computer programmer who has been in the business for 23 years everyone must report all bugs to freedom no matter how trivial you think they are and no matter whether you have seen someone post this same bug on any discussion list. You must report your system configuration, version of operating system and version of the program you are having the problems with. When my shop received error reports we first looked at the problems that were reported by the highest number of people because this statistically would be the problem that would effect the most users even if they did not report the problem. Also a company like Freedom is going to spend more time fixing bugs or adding enhancments to Jaws for the programs most utilized by the public. For example jfw 7.0 started working with Mozilla firefox/thunderbird because the market requested that it be a part of the next version because many shops are using these products. This is why you don't see much or any effort for outdated versions of software such as office 97 or rbase 5000 or dbase because the market has swung away from these products.

Also by stating I will not pay for SMA's until they make a package that is more stable, is absolutely rediculas. What you are stating is I don't want to further the production of Jaws because both the SMA's and new purchases fuel the production teams budget for the product. If you are that unhappy with jaws then make the commitment to either be a part of the solution or drop the product and go to Window Eyes or any other screen reading software on the market.

Hiya listers,

Just downloaded Jaws 7.1 but just been monitoring all you great people
thru the beta process as living alone here kind of panic if Jaws fails
speech etc so didn't want to put myself thru the beta process. I'm now
reluctant to install the full version I just downloaded hearing the
problems already as I'm still getting over the bugs in 7.0.

Anyway I think I'll keep monitoring you guys before installing 7.1 and
see
how bad this all is as one of my biggest pet hates if if something works
in an older version IT SHOULD work in the newer version and only new
Microsoft software and software updates in general should cause bugs for
new releases of Jaws. This program wasn't cheap but alot of money. I want
FS to get it RIGHT not nearly right as things that worked great in version

5.10 failed to work in 7 now I hear its continuing in 7.1

Thanks again folks for listening to my whinge of the day I'm sure alot
of
you will agree with me.

cheers,

Jim from Oz

Hi all!
This didn't happen the first few times i ran outlook express with
7.1,
but now, whenever I close OE, I lose speech entirely. I assume the jaws
window is up, but I get no speech no matter what I press. Oddly enough,
however, when I shut down the computer via key strokes, speech returns
during the shut down process. This is a terrible inconvenience. I should
not have to keep my OE window open all of the time in order to retain
speech. It looks like another beta might have been a wise choice before
releasing this version of jaws.
