Hi Ben,
The first screen reader application I used was an old IBM 3278 green screen
monitor that was modified with electronics to do screen reading. It used an
old Votrax synthesizer which was almost as big as the monitor itself.
I then moved to IBM's PCSaid screen reader.
Things were much more of a challenge in those days.

Without getting off topic regarding Jaws, I'd be interested to know what
your first memories of screen readers are. Mine begin with Jaws 3.2 on an
old Gateway PC back in 1997. Good oal Doubletalk PC couldn't even handle

Romance languages for heaven's sake!
