Isn't it possible to open separate instances of Word itself and then have them all show up on the task bar no matter how this setting is set or will Windows not permit this for some reason?
?

Yardbird,

If you have Word 2003, go to the Tools Menu and open the Options dialog. On the View page of this dialog, there is a checkbox labeled Windows in Taskbar. If this checkbox is checked, multiple documents loaded into Word appear as separate items on the Taskbar, and the user can use Alt+Tab to switch documents. Control+F6 and the Windows Menu can also be used to switch documents. If the checkbox is unchecked, MS Word only shows up once on the Taskbar no matter how many documents are loaded, and the user can only switch documents with Control+F6 or the Windows Menu.

Gary,
I'm sorry, but I can't follow what you're describing here. You say:

if you uncheck the Windows in Taskbar checkbox under the View Tab in
Options, the Alt+Tab key combination will no longer switch between
documents.

What's the "windows in taskbar checkbox?" Which options section of which
applikcations View menu or tab are yu referring to?

thanks.
