I don't that particular d-link router has a fire wall in it.

It's plenty secure if one puts forth efforts to do all they can to make that
happen.  There is always a security risk.  There's always someone smart
enough to find some way around security.  One does the best they can, that's
all they can do, and that, in a nutshell, is just the way it is.  The DLink
mentioned likely has a hardware firewall, just as my Linksys product does.
My wireless base station has yet more security.  Besides which, in order for
someone to even try to link up to my wireless network, they've got to be
within a hundred or so feet to get a good enough signal to do that.  Yes
again there are very smart people out there who find ways around stuff, but
again, the basic wireless home networking gear, and even applied to small
business, is plenty secure, or as secure as it can be for the environment
it's mostly used in.
