Thank you anyway, Russell. It's good information, and maybe one day I'll try Outlook again, though the idea of transferring all those messages with MS's strangely complex email program methods is daunting.

Hi Adrian,

I just tried your steps in Outlook Express with similar results.

I apologize for the confusion, but I am using Outlook 2007 not Outlook Express. I'm not sure why this feature doesn't seem to be available in OE.

Thanks,

Russell

Hi, Russell.

I've been wanting this function for years, but haven't been able to make it work. I just tried again. Let me tell you what I do and where it goes wrong,

and perhaps you can let me know if I'm missing something.

1. I go to an OE file folder and tab once to the most recent message.

2. I select all with control-a.

3. I press alt-f for file

4. But when I arrow down to "save as," JAWS announces it is unavailable, as is "save" and "save attachments."

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I'm a bit late reading my email, so hope this is still helpful.

Instead of copying text from each email message and pasting it into a Word document you can select all the email messages you want to consolidate and then go to "File" > "Save As". Give the file a name and choose where you wish to save it and you'll have a text file with all the text from the messages you selected. You can then open this text file in Word and save it as a Word document if you choose. The only downside of doing it this way is that the message headers get put into the file as well as the message text, but I sort of like this...it gives you a record of when each message was sent.

HTH

Hi, everyone.

This weekend I decided to consolidate a series of email messages into a single word processing file. So, for the first time, I had a reason to use the Windows key-c append function. I started out with control-c for the first block of text and tried to append blocks of additional text with Windows key-c. However, it didn't work. After several trial-and-error attempts, I discovered that text appended only when I pressed Windows key-c twice in succession. It worked this way even after I rebooted and made sure my PC was otherwise shipshape.

No one on the list has described this behavior, which makes me worry that the append function won't perform reliably on my system.

I'm using JAWS 8 and Windows XP.

Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions for what might be causing or how to fix it?

Thanks.
