It still sounds complicated. All I want to do is leave a marker, the way we
have index tones on NLS tape. I'm listening to some long podcast, what do I
care what time it is or how long into the program I'm leaving a market? I
just want to leave the marker where I stop.

I'll experiment soon. Maybe I'll figure out a way to simplify this. It's
not like I'm editing recorded material for a production studio or something.

Actually, you don't even need to key in the time in the edit box,
unless you want to place the time marker at a different position in
the track you're currently at I.e. if you're 5 minutes in the file,
but you want to place the time marker 15 minutes into the file, you
would first need to press control plus j, enter the time like this,
15:00, that's 15, followed by a colon, followed by 2 0's.
then press enter and you should then be 15 minutes into the file. you
can check your current place in a file by ppressing control plus shift plus
t.
You can then press the letter m and the time marker name dialogue box
will appear.
