Yes, it's very possible this may have occurred. Once I updated my windows 98
system, and I noticed a few changes in windows explorer. All I had to do was
set them back to the recommended settings, and jfw worked fine.

Hi Jean,
That is a distinct possibility.
Sometimes software has a habit of changing display settings without your
knowledge.
The better written software will usually notify the user, and givbe you the
option to accept or deny the recommended changes.

This is very, very strange. When I got this computer and installed Jaws
5.0, I went through all the recommended settings for Jaws very
carefully. Of course since then I've upgraded Jaws and there have been
numerous Windows updates as well.

Just for fun, though, I went through the below settings and discovered
that somehow, some of the settings had been changed. We have individual
user profiles, so no one else in my family would have changed anything
on my profile. But I wonder if some of the periodic Windows updates
maybe change settings?

I've corrected some of the settings, but I was very surprised to see
some had indeed been changed.

Jean
