Hi Ray, The menu and toolbar positions are stored in a file in the user profile area named normal.dot. Assuming he hasn't customized this, simply renaming it or deleting it will cause Word to recreate it the next time Word is started. Finding it is the only problem, as the normal search function, I don't believe, looks down in the user profile directories. You can find it by clicking the start menu, choosing run, and typing in the following string: %appdata%\microsoft\templates This will open a Windows Explorer window into the correct folder. If this isn't the issue, make sure the Word window is maximized, and go into the view menu | toolbars choice, and turn off all toolbars except "standard" and "formatting". hth, Chip ------------------------------ Chip Orange Database Administrator Florida Public Service Commission Chip.Orange@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (850) 413-6314 (Any opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Florida Public Service Commission.) > -----Original Message----- > From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray Campbell > Sent: Wednesday, July 23, 2008 3:16 PM > To: VICUG-L@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Very Peculiar Word Problem > > Hi All: > > I have a client running JAWS and Word 2003.
